Chile - Santiago

Santiago is the 5th largest city in Sth America which was founded by Pedro de Valdivia in 1541. It is here you can view the magnificent chain of the Andes, with its snowcapped peaks in full view for much of the year, which  rise to 6000m & lie about 100km from the city.

Here we find not only large modern shopping malls but in contrast more than 20 interesting old museums, also a clean efficient Metro system covering the city.

Close to Santiago there are lush fruit orchards and vineyards where a most perfect red wine is produced named Camanere.
